Girl's Night!

At the beginningof January, I was able to get away for a night and meet up in Salt Laketo stay at the Grand Hotel with some of my BYU roommates! A fewof us live here in Utah and Sara came from Australia to visit some of her family (and us,of course :) and Elke came in from Washington. We missed a few girls who couldn't make it this time. It was so funto talk and laugh! I was seriously laughing at things that were not eventhat funny. It's just that much fun to hang out with good friends! We enjoyed a great dinner at The Melting Pot, then talked most of thenight, slept in and had Nutella and strawberries on croissants for brunch! I wish it could have been a longer visit!

I never get out our camera and take pictures anymore! Ahhhh!! So my blog has suffered pretty bad for a while now. I have been taking a few pictures with my iPod, but I haven't been good about taking pictures in general at all. The pictures above are from when we picked out our Christmas tree, the two pictures I took on Christmas day :(, and then some snow pictures from today. Sad! I guess I'll have to get the pictures off my iPod so I have something!

If I Were Rich...

I would open up a Discovery Center for kids in Utah County. I absolutely love these types of places and we don't have anything like this in our area. I may or may not like the place so much because of all of the miniature things. Not saying. But, I'm pretty sure the Utah County residents wouldn't pay the $8.50 /per person over 1 to come!

Last weekend James had to work at a volleyball match at the University of Utah in the afternoon, so Jimmer and I tagged along and James dropped us off at Discovery Gateway to play and then met us up there afterwards. Jimmer played for three straight hours during his normal nap time and didn't make one unhappy sound. When James came, we took a break for dinner and then James played with Jimmer for an hour or more while I shopped at the Gateway Mall and then I came back and we pretty much closed the place out at 8pm. It was much more fun to play from about 6 to 8pm rather than 1 to 3pm when it was so crowded.

I had been wanting to take Jimmer here, but never wanted to make the drive up just for it. However, we definitely could spend a whole day there. Jimmer could drop those ball pit balls down tubes ALL DAY LONG if we let him. So we got our chance to go and Jimmer (and I) had a blast. The only disappointment is that Jimmer and I don't enjoy the same areas of the center. I wanted to play inside the miniature house, farm or market, and Jimmer wanted to play in the ball zone and the water zone. So the pictures above don't show how cute the place really is since Jimmer wants nothing to do with the cute stuff. :) He would not step foot in the tiny little market area. Come on Jimmer....teeny tiny shopping carts!! Ugh!

Jimmer was the Very Hungry Caterpillar this Halloween. We chose this costume since the "Big Fat Caterpillar" is one of Jimmer's favorite books right now (Thanks for giving us the book Angela!). Jimmer actually wore his costume on Halloween and he was happy!! He had a great time trick-or-treating! I couldn't believe it and I was pretty thrilled! We were, however, prepared for the worst since I tried to put his costume on him about a week earlier and he completely freaked out. I mean it was a BIG freak-out! I figured the only way he was going to wear this costume was to cut the (hand-sewn) seam along the right side of his costume and make it so he could put it on like a coat and velcro it up instead of pulling it over his head. So his costume definitely did not look as good as when it was hand-sewn, when you couldn't see any velcro, when the sides were more even, and when I would have had the time I was planning on to make the caterpillar feet, etc. But he wore it and that's all we're happy about. The day after Halloween, Jimmer said "I love trick-or-treats."

Good times at the Pumpkin Patch

We had a great time at the pumpkin patch on Wednesday with the Farish family. Jimmer loved it all...petting the animals, climbing the hay bale pyramid, the hay ride, the corn pit, and walking around the patch. It is neat to have such a fun patch so close to our home. We should have started just a little earlier since it was getting dark as we were picking our pumpkins. We finished just in time! James and I had a lot of fun too. Now we just need to get carving!

I'm ONLY excited about the upcoming cold weather so Jimmer can wear his new long sleeve shirts and jeans. Other than that, I don't want the cold! And I don't know about you, but every time Jimmer wears new clothes I feel like I should snap his picture. Here are a few I took recently. It's too bad all of his childhood pictures will be on the stairs. :( I guess we should go outside and try next time. I just know he won't sit still for outside pictures. And...it will be too cold soon!!!

I just had to throw in the last picture of him wearing my slippers. He puts these slippers on every day, whenever he can get to them, even if he's naked. Don't tell him, but he'll be getting his own slippers for Christmas.

Kids are Funny!

Our Jimmer is definitely 2, he definitely has his own unique personality, and usually keeps James and I laughing. He can talk pretty well and sometimes he doesn't stop! But I love that he can communicate what he wants. Here are some of the things that have made us laugh lately:

Everyday, he asks his baby doll, "Didi, are you ready to take a nap?" and then nods the baby's head and says, "Yeeess."

He lines up all of his stuffed animals on the bottom stair and says they're in timeout for not listening. Or he says, "Froggy's in trouble. What did he do?" (since I will always ask him what the froggy did to get in trouble).

He say so many funny things! Recently he has made us laugh by saying things like:

-"Don't shush the Jimmer."

-When I said, "Come on pumpkin," he said, "I'm not a pumpkin. I'm a crocodile."

-After I called him 'honey', he said, "It's not honey, it's called Jimmer."

-When James and I are talking in the car and not really talking to him he'll say, "Mama, don't talk to Daddy."

-He'll quiz me on letters and sounds and then say, "You're so smart Mama!"

-When my dad is not home and working as a volleyball ref, he says, "Grandpa's playing volleyball." (And I taught Jimmer to say "volleyball referee" but I guess he refuses to believe that that is what Grandpa is doing.)

-We pulled up to the Rees' house for Sunday dinner and he cheered, "Yay!! Tatoes!!" (potatoes)

-Yesterday in the car Jimmer asked if we could go to the park. I told him we needed to go home and take a nap. He held up his little pointer finger and said, "Just one park Mama. Just one park."

-Everytime he says "Cheesy-burger-burger" we can't help but laugh :)

-Sorry I could go on and on.

He asks us to draw such random things in random orders on his Magna Doodle:

"Mama, draw a pickle," and after I do that he'll say, "Draw a little pickle," then... "a doctor...a Neverland pirate...Little Einsteins...a squirrel...a little squirrel...an H...Will...all the letters....and Grandpa..."

He has serious screaming freak-outs over pretty normal things (which is not so funny):

-Like wearing a belt or a tie to church

-Getting a haircut (which he had gotten many times before)

-Being in the same room as the doctor (then saying he likes the doctor on the way home)

-We fully expect a freak-out putting on his Halloween costume

-He didn't have a big freak-out episode here, but he won't let the water out of the tub anymore because one time it made a loud noise. Now when I ask him to he says, "I don't think so. Mommy do it."

Who knew everyday life could be so funny? Kids can be so random, so particular and so funny! Jimmer and his little kid cousins make life enjoyable. We love Jimmer (and our neices and nephews) and although he can REALLY try our patience, we sure love having him around!

Here's a little video of Jimmer saying the sounds of the letters. He really likes to talk and learn about the ABC's right now (hence the quiet book project :)). He has learned his letters and sounds rather easily and I just hope he remembers them for later! He now quizzes me on the letters and then says, "You're so smart, Mama!" It feels good to be "so smart". His new quiet book has helped him start to use the sounds of the letters to say the beginning of words. So, ya know, he'll say the sound of the letter A three times and then Apple. My favorite is when he'll say the sound for L three times and then say Moon :). This video is mostly for Grandma and Grandpa Rees.

Learning to Sew

My mom gave me her sewing machine about a month ago and I have been trying to teach myself how to sew. My mom says she's forgotten how to sew and she won't need her machine, but I happen to know she lies. :) I wanted to borrow her machine to see if I could even learn to sew before I bought myself one. I'll give her sewing machine back to her sometime, but I think she'd rather just make me learn and then have me do her sewing projects for her. I'm not any good, but I'm loving it.

My first project was this alphabet quiet book that I got a pattern for from Etsy. I think it turned out okay. There are lots of things I'd do differently if I were to make it again. I learned a lot from this project! One of them being to relax a little and try to not be such a perfectionist when I'm learning something new. I think it required more than my beginning sewing abilities. When I opened up the PDF pattern and saw that it would take 20+ hours I knew I was in trouble! But Jimmer really likes the book so far (mistakes and all), but that may just be because it's something new. He loves to rip all the little pieces off and put them back on (they're detachable with velcro). My next project is finishing some file folder games that I put on hold to work on this craziness.

We took family pictures with the whole Rees clan. I don't have the big family picture yet, but here is the one we took of just James, Jimmer and I. It's our most recent family picture.

In July we spent a week long reunion in Las Vegas with James' whole family. We had 42 people altogether and we stayed in one really big house. We had a lot of fun!! We enjoyed swimming, cooking and eating together, playing Minute to Win It games, shopping(girls)/basketball(boys), touring the Hoover Dam, boating, visiting the Belagio fountains, playing with cousins, and doing skits. We love spending time with whole family and wish we could see everyone more often.

My sister, Seeley, graduated from MATC (Mountainland Applied Technology College) and got her cosmetology license back in June 2011. She works at a salon and unfortunately for her, she has earned the privilege of doing my hair for as long as she lives in Utah. :) I have been majorly slacking on this blog, so I wanted to put these few pictures up now. Can you find James?

I went to byucougars.com one day and saw James (holding his red flag) on the homepage.

My dad has been a volleyball referee for years and years. I used to go to college games with him and sit in the stands by myself and just watch. My dad liked me to come with him so he could drive in the carpool lane in CA and I loved to go and watch awesome players like Misty May at Long Beach State. Anyway...since my parents moved up to Utah, my dad has coached (or coaxed??) James into becoming a line judge. So James has been lining some BYU and University of Utah games these past few seasons. Although I hate that most of the games are on Friday and Saturday nights, I do like to spend the extra moola! Thanks for working so hard James (and Dad)!

P.S. - See told you I'd post! More to come. I promise. After posts like this, I know you're excited.

P.P.S - Do you like the new look of the blog? I couldn't go back to sleep after Jimmer woke up at 3am asking for soda. What the heck? Are the new fonts showing up?

I thought I'd try to at least get a few pictures up of Jimmer's 2nd birthday. I made him a small basketball cake (half of which collapsed) on his actual birthday and let him open his big present that day (a basketball hoop). Then when my sister and her family returned from their vacation, we had Jimmer's "party". Streamers from the dollar store make it a party, right?

I have a few more pictures , but I'm not sure how to upload them from my iPod without using Facebook. So I don't want to keep uploading pictures to Facebook just to get them on here. Anyway, you get the idea.
Almost two weeks ago James, Jimmer and I were on our way to my parents' house for dinner (like most nights :)) and we were stopped at a red light when a guy in a truck slammed into the back of our car and pushed us into the SUV in front of us. The driver of the truck must have been distracted because he did not even slow down before hitting us. It was a really scary experience. As it happened, time seemed to slow down, and I felt helpless as we're just being crunched back and forth between the two cars. James couldn't hardly pull the car over to the side of the road before I was trying to get my door open and get to Jimmer. We were all fine and only had some soreness in our necks for a little while. Thank goodness!!
We are now looking to replace our car since our insurance let us know this week that the Camry was totaled. We're actually happy about that, in a way, because we didn't really want to drive around in a car that was damaged so much. However, we are finding it very difficult to find a used car that is in good condition like ours was. We had low milage, a nice interior, and just a few door dings. As we've looked at some newer Camrys than ours, all we have found so far is ones that smell like hotel rooms, have beat-up interiors, and have lots of miles. We may end up buying a new car, but we don't necessarily want to pay thousands more to have it new again. James wants to buy a Corolla to replace the Camry just because we can pay for the entire thing. I don't really want to lose my roomy Camry! Oh well, I guess that's why they call it an accident! A lesson learned though, not to text or get distracted while you're driving or you could cause someone else this headache!!

We were worried...

about the 1:00 church time and not knowing if he'd be okay with us leaving him, but Jimmer loves Nursery so far! He just walks in saying "Toys!" Yay for us! Teaching Primary is so much easier without Jimmer running around. Last week when James went to check on him, he was bent over at the waist halfway into the toy bucket. We think he'll be fine.

We spent Christmas Day at my parents' house. It was great. We stayed in our pajamas ALL DAY and didn't care one bit. We played a game called Bananagrams most of the day. Jimmer didn't really care that much about opening presents on Christmas Day, but he's enjoying all of his toys now (and liked all of his cousin Will's stuff on Christmas). And for those wondering, he loves his new baby doll I bought.

Jimmer has decided he loves to put his shoes on...even if he doesn't have pants on.

Jimmer got sick in the afternoon on Christmas day. He was so sick for his 18 month "well" child check-up. He had a virus and he's still got it. This picture is from today....hence no Nursery on Sunday. I hope all the friends and family we visited with don't get sick!! I just found a new tooth in there today too.

There are of course some things I don't have pictures of...like Will's birthday party, Navie's birthday party, the lights at Temple Square...etc. This is as good as it gets I guess.

Halloween and a Trip to California

Cheeseburger anyone??

Jimmer didn't care much for his Cheeseburger costume. He had a few falls when he wore it. I guess it was hard to see the ground :)

James and Jimmer in the SLC airport. I decided on this trip that I love the SLC airport. It's clean, pretty spacious, organized, easy to pick up and drop off, and has a kid's play area.

Jimmer found a random stranger he liked at the airport. He would run around to both sides of this column so that the nice girl sitting behind it (who was on her phone-sorry girl) would try to get him.

So fun...who needs Disneyland?

We went anyway! It was a blast and not too crowded. The longest line was about 30 minutes. We did the Disney volunteer program to get free tickets, so it made it even more worth it!

But really, we went to CA to see these cuties! We had a lot of fun with my brother, John, his wife Keri, and their kids Emma and Travis. We didn't get a ton of sleep (sorry guys), but we still had a great time!

15 months!

We just had Jimmer's picture taken (which should have happened at 12 months--but someone kept splitting his head open or bruising it and someone else got lazy). I only have the digital copy of this one pose.

Jimmer loves to hang out with Papa in the evenings and loves to go outside with him. Unfortunately the outside part won't last for too much longer :( The boys are supposed to help pick up leaves...but Jimmer just takes them back out and crunches them up in his hand...so helpful.

Jimmer also likes to follow his cousin Will around (and get his hugs!). It probably drives Will crazy...but it's fun for me to see them play together.

So, obviously not much happening around here...especially nothing noteworthy to blog about. We have just been enjoying Springville and trying to suck up the last of the warm weather. We have also started the countdown to Nursery!

We mainly just spend our evenings at the Farish home and do our daily routine during the day. Jimmer takes a 3 hour nap most afternoons, so I would have plenty of time to blog if there was anything happening around here! Instead I just blog-stalk other people. :)

We just recently realized how much time we spend at the Farish house when we stopped going for about a week when poor Will was so sick. After a week or so...we realized we were really hungry! It was great to go back yesterday and have Mom's homemade meal again. I know what you're thinking...why didn't you cook Michelle?...well I've forgotten how, okay?

We Love You Jimmer!

I have never said that Jimmer is an "easy going" baby. In fact, I OFTEN complain about how hard he is for me. He has always hated his carseat; he did a lot of screaming from 8 to 10pm as an infant; he can still go from happy to screaming in a matter of seconds; he is quite stubborn about doing what he wants; and he likes the comfort of his own home and bed. It's probably just because I am a first-time mom, but boy...I have had some rough times.

Jimmer is getting to be so much better though as he gets older and as he gains more independence. He can play with balls, watch Elmo or play with Grandpa all day. He is a great sleeper (now) and always has been a great eater...so that has been wonderful. I often forget the great things about him when I attempt to run just about any errand and have a screaming baby in the car who I think should have nothing to cry about. But despite all of the hard times (I have even broken down and cried at Costco) James and I sure love our little boy!! I know that no one ever said having a baby would be easy. And yes, he is definitely worth it. We love you Jimmer!

First Haircut!

It's been a long time since I've posted anything on here. We haven't had much going on though except 3 weekends in a row of sickness for Jimmer. Right after his birthday he had mild bronchitis and a mild ear infection (but a good fever with those). And the next weekend he got the herpangina virus where you get blisters down the back of your throat (and another high fever). Then the following weekend he had the chicken pox (no fever this time...just the worry that he'll spread his disease!). Not such a fun start to summer, but we've had lots of fun since he's gotten better and since his top two teeth came in.

We cut Jimmer's hair for the first time on Sunday. Sad day for me! I was reluctant to cut off his baby curls! We had to do it though because (as you can see) his hair was getting pretty out of control. I did try to tame it a little more than in the pictures...but it was still getting so long. Anyway, now that we've cut of his curls and he's walking all around the house, he looks like a little boy instead of a baby :(

Happy Birthday Jimmer!

Jimmer is officially 1 today! We had a fun monster themed party with family on Saturday at my parents' house. The highlight of the party for us was watching him eat his cupcake. He would not touch it with his hands, but would bend down and get mouthfuls of frosting. Today Jimmer got to go to the doctor's and get 4 shots and go to James' summer party for his work. Jimmer weighs 18 lbs 5 oz and is 28 1/4 inches tall. We found out that his lingering cough is actually bronchitis and he has a residual ear infection. What great parents we are to not have taken him in sooner! We really do love our little monster though!

Two Teeth and Some Walking

Jimmer had no teeth until 11 and a half months and then got his first two within about a week of each other. We're glad to know he actually has teeth, and I had no complaints about being a late teether. Jimmer is also trying to walk and all he wants to do now is hold your hand and walk him around. He can take about 12 or 15 steps on his own now, but he's still working on it. We're excited for him to walk around and hope it is soon so that he'll stop using the death grip on our fingers and stop getting mad when we let go. But then we'll just be up chasing him around once he's steady on his feet. Yikes! Our Jimmer is getting big and he's just about to turn 1!

James and I celebrated our 4th anniversary last Thursday. Woo hoo! We went to Texas Roadhouse on Thursday night for dinner and it was great. Then on Friday, James had a half-day of work so we headed up to Salt Lake to stay in the Little America hotel and go shopping on Saturday. James knew I couldn't pass up the Memorial Day sale (with the extra coupon I had) at Carter's, so he planned for us to stay somewhere near a Carter's store. Since our anniversary is near Memorial Day, I think it's going to be a great new tradition to just stay in a hotel, eat out, swim and go shopping! That's what I'm hoping for anyway. :) We had a great little trip and a fun long weekend together. I won't put up a wedding picture alongside a picture of us now because you'll just see how much fatter and uglier I've gotten over the past 4 years...so I'll pass on that. You'll just have to enjoy the James and Jimmer pictures.

Jimmer is 11 months old today. He is doing great. He still likes to eat a lot (about 8 baby food jars a day) and still has no teeth. Lately he's learned how to go down the stairs on his belly (which is nice for me) and has not yet learned to like his carseat. At 12 months...we're turning that carseat around! Jimmer likes to shake and throw toys and fling them across the room and chase them. He has not learned to walk yet, but it will probably be sooner than later. He likes to walk with anything that will work as a walker. In the pictures above Jimmer decided he could push the ladder ball game as a walker around my parents' backyard.

We've had a busy few weeks lately. Unfortunately we do not have a lot of pictures to show for it. Oh well. James, Jimmer and I flew to St. Louis in the beginning of May for James' sister Carolyn's wedding and we spent a week out there hanging out with the Rees family. We had a good time, but traveling with Jimmer was a bit of a challenge. He screamed quite a bit on the flight to St. Louis and then while we were there he did not sleep well or do well at all when we had to leave him to go to the temple. But, at least he acted just as we suspected. :)

Then a few days after we got home my brother John and his family came to Utah to visit, so we had about 5 days of fun with the Farish family doing things like going to the Hogle Zoo, going to Pirate Island (like Chuck E. Cheese), having a BBQ, going shooting and roasting s'mores. Luckily while John & Keri were here, we were able to get Jimmer to stay asleep at my parents' house and then transfer Jimmer home to his crib when we were done playing games and stuff each night. I was shocked that he stayed asleep every time we took him home. I think St. Louis trip helped him learn to sleep a little better in places other than his own crib. Although we've had a lot of fun lately, we are happy to take a little break from vacationing for a while and get back to our normal lives. Now we just need to plan something for our anniversary next Thursday...I'm thinking Hawaii.

Jimmer turned 10 months on Saturday. He wasn't exactly feeling up to celebrating though. Instead of going to the zoo with my family, we ended up going to Urgent Care. He had an ear infection and slept in James' and my arms ALL DAY. It was so sad. We are glad to see his blue eyes again and see him crawling around and playing now that he's feeling better.

I've enjoyed sitting on the couch playing on my mini-laptop and telling Jimmer to "Go play," but I'm afraid that won't be happening for much longer.

Our camera ran out of battery as we were ready to take Easter pictures of Jimmer. Once we got the battery charged and ready to go, Jimmer was not so happy about taking any pictures. So these are the best pictures we could get out of him. We went over to the Farish's for Easter dinner and it was delicious! Too bad the weather was crummy and we couldn't let Jimmer crawl around on the grass and find eggs. Jimmer also couldn't wear the cute brown shorts that I wanted him to.

Jimmer has been fun (and crazy) lately. He turned 9 months on the 24th of March and he still really likes to stand everywhere he can. He will only crawl to get to his next standing spot. He likes to scale the couch now and the bottom stair. He climbed 3 stairs yesterday and scared me to death. He has also been laying down on the ground or my arm when he is tired. Unfortunately he won't fall asleep on the ground. He'll just flop around with his head on the ground until I pick him up and rock him to sleep. He has also thrown a few fits. I'm not too excited about that and hope it doesn't last (but my sister says it will). Great. For the most part though, he's been a good sleeper and napper and is pretty happy to just play and watch Baby Einstein or Signing Time movies.

Jimmer turned 8 months on the 24th of February and he is becoming a busy boy.

These days, Jimmer:
-Crawls around the house discovering things like door stoppers and furniture knobs
-Pulls himself to a stand on whatever is the right height (i.e. bean bag, first two stairs, laundry basket, jumperoo, Mom)
-Likes "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" (especially the green frog)

-Likes to catch the plastic ball with Grandpa
-Ditched his baby bathtub since he wouldn't stay in it...but hates to lie down in the big tub
-Loves to play 'Where's Mama?' when Dad gets home
-Favorite songs are "Wheels on the Bus", "BINGO", and "Itsy Bitsy Spider"
-Says "mama" but probably doesn't know what it means

-Likes to turn off the computer (and will not forget where that button is...even when it is blocked or covered)

Jimmer has been getting up onto his hands and knees (or to his feet) for a little while now and he has finally realized that he can move his arms. He has figured out how to crawl and I have figured out how to upload and post videos!

Jimmer can now get wherever he wants to and just needs a little coordination practice. Sorry about the video of him in his diaper...he was just about to get in the bath. I do put clothes on him.

The videos are a bit long and boring...so I won't be offended if you don't want to waste your time watching Jimmer crawl.

We have had a pretty fun January, but I have not taken any pictures lately. My brother John and his family came out to visit from California last weekend and we had a great time hanging out with them. The boys enjoyed shooting in the canyon and we all enjoyed power tumbling and playing games of Catch Phrase and Rage. Well I didn't necessarily enjoy Rage so much...I think James' scoring was a little shady (only 3 points in 5 rounds for me...I don't think so).

We did get Jimmer's picture taken at 6 months, but I don't have a scanner to get them onto the computer. I need to scan those in at my Mom's house and then I'll probably post those.

Yesterday, Jimmer turned 7 months old. He sits up quite well now and is trying to scoot to reach his toys but hasn't quite figured that out. He can only move around in circles and backwards. I'm sure he'll be moving forward before I'm ready for him to. Jimmer is a pretty good boy these days. He really likes oatmeal and carrots and still loves the jumperoo. Still no sign of any teeth. That's all for now I guess.

We can't wait for Christmas around here and we're excited that Dad has a week off after Christmas!! Yah!!

Jimmer turns 6 months on Christmas Eve and he's doing pretty well. At his doctor's appointment on Monday he weighed 15 lbs 11 oz and was 26 1/2 inches long. The doctor said that his weight is normal for a baby born under 7 lbs. And apparently Jimmer has a big noggin. Hopefully his body catches up with his head soon :).

Jimmer was sleeping through the night for about a week and then started waking up again (once or twice a night). At our appointment, Dr. Freestone asked how he was sleeping and then told me that I needed to let him cry at night because he is just waking up out of habit now :(. Last night we let him cry and the crying lasted on and off for about an hour and a half. Hopefully it won't take too many more nights to get back to sleeping through the night because it just broke my heart. I'm trying to tell Jimmer it was the mean doctor's fault. I don't know if he believes me.

We also have to schedule an ultrasound for the back of Jimmer's neck because he has a fatty lump back there. The doctor thinks it is just fat around some lymph nodes, but wants to make sure it is not a cyst. Don't know how he'll treat it if it is.

Other than that, James and I are just enjoying life with Jimmer and getting excited for the holidays. Not really the snow...but the holidays. I'm already talking about how I can't wait for summer, and we just had the first day of winter...yikes.

Jimmer is 5 months now and he's growing so fast. He definitely thinks he's big now. Lately he's been eating rice cereal and squash, rolling all around, laughing, playing in his jumperoo, jabbering, and scratching things. His favorite toys are my cell phone, the remote control, and the wipes box.

Oh and for Meagan...at 4 months Jimmer weighed 13 lbs 10 oz and was 23 3/4 inches. His doctor doesn't really tell you the percentiles, but when I looked them up I think he was about 25th percentile for weight and 10th percentile for height. Definitely not a really big guy. But hopefully with this baby food eating he'll beef up :)

Timp Caves & Moab

We've had a few fun weekends this last month. We went to Timpanogos Caves with the Farish family one weekend and then to Moab with the Rees family the next.

Timp Caves was cool inside, but the mile and a half hike straight uphill was not fun. The picnic and nap afterwards were great though! My dad sacrificed some sleep and got up at 6am to go stand in line for tickets to the caves since it was a free day at all the National Parks. Oh and I could not get the stupid camel pack to work during the entire hike. James figured out when we got home that it was locked and all we had to do was lift up the cap a little. Erg.

We went to Moab to meet up with James' older sister, Kristy, and her family who were driving from St. Louis to Arizona to go to a family reunion and stopping for a day in Moab. While we were there James rode his bike on slick rock, we ran and jumped down a huge sandhill, and hiked to the Delicate Arch (another mile and a half journey, but this time not so hard). I really enjoyed the king bed at the La Quinta and eventhough Jimmer usually hates his carseat, he did great.

On August 24th, Jimmer turned 2 months! We can't believe how fast time is flying by! Jimmer had his 2-month check up on that day and Mom was sad that she had to be the one to take him to get his shots! They were over with so fast though that it wasn't as bad as I expected. Jimmer weighed 11 lbs 6 oz and was 23 inches. He's getting big so fast!

August 19th was James' 28th birthday! I asked James' boss if he could have the day off of work and that morning I told James that we were going to Lagoon. He was surprised, but kind of bummed because he was supposed to play outdoor volleyball at work that day. So needless to say, we went to his work first so he could play an hour of volleyball before going to Lagoon. Crazy guy! Anyway, we had a good time and Jimmer was great the whole day. We had to do the spouse swap at each ride, so we didn't get to ride together, but we still had fun. And when I sat next to some lady on one of the coasters, she said "Oh you're a loser too." I said "Um, no." Maybe next time I won't be a loser! We closed out the park and got home at almost midnight.

We went to the Utah County Fair in Spanish Fork again this year. Jimmer had fun at the Rodeo with Grandpa, until it poured on us!! And I mean poured...we were drenched in about 30 seconds! Don't mind Jimmer's outfit...I just put jeans and a hoodie on top of what he was wearing that day.

Baby James Alan Rees Jr. (aka Jimmer) has already come!! Jimmer was born on Wednesday, June 24th at 6:24am. He weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and was 19.5 inches long. Jimmer decided to come 10 days early, so no need to make a decision on inducing.

Today at 38 weeks

Now understanding the term "exponential growth"

Apparently my body is pretty much ready to have this baby! At my last doctor's appointment my doctor gave me the option to induce this next Saturday, June 27th, which would be 1 week early. I'm having trouble deciding what to do! I have to make a decision by Monday morning so that when I go in to my appointment I can have my doctor schedule it if I am going to do it. James and I went to lunch on Friday [at Burger Supreme :)] and I asked him what we should do. James just shrugged his shoulders. Great, thanks for the help James!! But after stressing that I REALLY need to know what to do, he started talking and helping me figure out the pros and cons of inducing next weekend. I am interested in what others think as well.

At my 36 week appointment, I was dilated to a 3 and 75% effaced. At my 37 week appointment, I was at 3+, almost 4 he said, and 90% effaced and baby was at a zero station. My 38 week appointment will be Monday (when I have to make this decision by). I still feel quite good, but I don't know how I will feel in two more weeks.

What do you guys think?? As a few ladies have said, I can always schedule it and then have another week to really decide and can cancel at the last minute if I don't feel good about it. That's pretty much what I'm thinking right now, but I could use some suggestions.

Quadruple Baby Shower at Work!

There are lots of pregnant girls at my work right now. Over the last few months we have had so much fun talking about all of the joys of pregnancy and upcoming motherhood! It seems like it was not long ago that we were all just finding out that each other was pregnant.
On Wednesday, we had a quadruple baby shower for the 4 girls who are all due in July! It was so much fun! We played a guessing game to see who could tell from our pictures whose belly was whose...and I couldn't even guess my own belly right! Each of us girls received diapers, wipes, a great lunch with dessert, and everyone at the office pitched in to give us each some cash to buy gifts. James and I are going to buy a swing with the gift money from Radiology Billing. Thank you all so much!!

Last Saturday, my mom and my sister Katie threw me a baby shower! It was such a beautiful day and everything turned out so nice. 3rd Anniversary!

Our 3rd Anniversary was on Wednesday, May 27th. For our anniversary, James wanted a tub of Laffy Taffy and I wanted a shopping spree in Park City. Sounds fair right??
Well, my favorite baby store, Carters, was having a 50-70% off sale that I couldn't pass up, and James is willing to let me spend on baby clothes when you can get khaki pants for $3.99.

We went up to Park City on Wednesday after work and stayed at the Peaks hotel until Friday. We just shopped, ate out, and hung out at the hotel (we couldn't miss the basketball games).
The last three years have flown by and I would not have wanted to spend that time with anyone else! James and I are trying to prepare ourselves for our lives to change in about 5 more weeks! You'll probably never read this, but I love you James!! You'll always be my favorite!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a lot of fun on Memorial Day weekend! On Saturday, I walked in the "Live wElle" 5k here in Springville with my family. I stole the 5k picture above from my sister's blog :). The race was a great event that honored the family of my parent's bishop and their ability to overcome challenges. The race went down my parents' street and as we passed their house both times, my mom and I thought we should just quit there and go in for a Pepsi. But we didn't and we finished the whole thing. James got to play some sand volleyball that morning, so he of course really enjoyed that. He didn't feel like getting up at 7:30 to walk with me. Why not James?
On Monday, we spent most of the day outside. We went up Diamond Fork Canyon and had a picnic lunch and went on a little hike. After that everyone rested and we had a bbq for dinner at my parents' house. It's so great that my family lives so close because we are really enjoying the barbeques and summer fun. After Memorial Day weekend we didn't want to go back to work. But we took our sun-burned faces back for two whole days and then took Thursday and Friday off to enjoy a little Anniversary vacation!

All Together in Utah

I know it's been a while since I have posted anything, so here are some new pictures to look at. At the end of April both of my brothers and their families were able to visit Utah for a little over a week and we were able to have the whole Farish family together before Jay left for Iraq. It was wonderful to be together and thanks to my sister-in-law, Lissa, we were able to get some good pictures of everyone. Also after the week of seeing what good babies our nephews are, James and I realized that our boy is probably bound to be the naughty one. Yikes! There can't be three good boys in a row.

30 weeks

We still need to get the wall decorations we ordered, a changing pad for the top of the dresser, and a rug, and then we're pretty close to being done with the baby room. We also recently got ourselves a new bedroom set and I think it's funny that James and I feel all grown up now that we have real furniture in our room. Other than working, doing things around the house, and watching Laker games, we have been enjoying some time with the Farish family that have come to visit Utah this week. I'll have to post some pictures of their visit later.

On Thursday, I had an ultrasound and found out that we are having a baby BOY!! We were excited to find out that the baby appears healthy and active. We're thrilled to have a little boy and James had a HUGE smile on his face when the ultrasound tech revealed the gender news.

James and I went on a week vacation to LA and San Diego. We had a great time going to Disneyland, Sea World, Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, out to eat, and the beach. It was so nice to have a week off of work and just spend time together.

I know it has been a long time, but really, our lives are not too exciting. Not a whole lot to blog about lately. Over the past two months, we have basically just been working, eating dinners with the Farish family (thanks Mom! - I haven't cooked in more than a month), celebrating my birthday, going to the pumpkin patch, and carving pumpkins and trick-or-treating with the Rees family. We have been enjoying the fall weather, but don't look forward to the winter. We did just get back from a trip to California, so once I get those pictures off of the camera I will have one thing to blog about!

Carnival rides aren't as fun as I remember...

We went to the Utah County Fair a few weeks ago with my family and we had a pretty good time....up until we had to go on the rides! Even just last year I thought they were fun. It may look like I'm having fun in the pictures, but really I'm smiling to keep from crying. After going on two rides at this year's fair I've decided that I'm giving up on those things. The first ride we went on (in the picture above) was kind of fun although it was one of those ones that you can't hold your head up because they are spinning around so fast. But then when we went on the second ride right after, I was a little nervous. They lock you in this monkey cage and spin you forwards and backwards a million times. Last year, not so scary. This year, I was freakin out and all I could think of was that the ride operator with just a few teeth isn't going to do much for me if the ride door pops open. I was sick to my stomach for an hour or so after those two stupid rides. I'm skipping the rides from now on!

...the half marathon! I trained all summer to run in the Provo River Half Marathon on August 9th and I am glad that it is over and that I made it! I didn't get a wonderful time (2 hrs 19 mins), but I was happy to finish. Most of the run was downhill, so that made it a pretty easy, nice run, but afterwards my legs really felt it. It took me two or three days to stop walking like a toddler!

We're finally getting back to normal...

It's been a busy summer! We've finally got all of our stuff unpacked in our new townhome and blinds installed and it feels great. We still need to hang stuff on the walls, but I'm still deciding what to do. I could use any decorating suggestions.

Just after we moved in, my parents moved here to Springville from California! So we helped them get moved in and helped my sister and her husband move in with them. We have really loved having them live 3 miles away and enjoyed spending time with them and most of all having Mom cook for us so much! Love it.

2nd Anniversary!!

James and I celebrated our 2nd Anniversary on Tuesday! We celebrated by going out to Ruby River Steakhouse for dinner and it was great!

James brought me two dozen roses to work and bought me some of my favorite things....Swedish fish and a caramel apple. He also got me two pair of running shorts. James wanted a motherboard for our anniversary. And I, of course, cannot pick out motherboards, nor do I want to, nor do I know what they are.......so James gets to pick one out for himself. I dropped off a pretzel with nacho cheese dip to his work for him and when I asked if he got it, he said "Yep, I pounded it." Guess that's a good thing??

It was so nice to spend Memorial Day together on Monday without having to go to work. We are really excited to plan an anniversary trip in September to San Diego (we think) when we have some more vacation time available from work.

The last two years have been so wonderful! When I think about when James and I were first married, I remember how I was over-the-top in love with him. And when I think about our marriage now, I am amazed that I can love James even more than I did then. I am so lucky to have a such a great guy.

Well, a townhouse really....but we're excited! Our offer was accepted today, so we will hopefully close on the new place by the end of next month. Move over country bumpkin, James and Michelle are coming to Springville.

Whole Family is Together!

Jay finally made it home from Korea (with us for a little while) and we were able to have the Farish family get together all in the same place for the first time in about five years! We were so lucky to have the whole family come up from California this past weekend for Ryan's graduation and my cousin, Whitney's wedding. We had a great time together and just wish the time didn't go by as fast as it did!!
